Kyung Hee Cyber University expands educational cooperation for immigrant backgrounds

Kyung Hee Cyber University's Department of Global Autonomous Studies is broadening its educational reach by forging partnerships with various domestic and international organizations. The department has recently signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with Gwangju's Korean Village, the Multicultural Peace Research Institute at Sungkyul University, and the Japanese Korean Language Education Society.

These collaborations are designed to create a robust educational network that connects local community initiatives, academic research, and overseas Korean language education. The goal is to enhance educational opportunities for learners with diverse backgrounds, including foreigners, overseas Koreans, and adults with immigrant backgrounds. The department plans to jointly develop and offer educational courses, extracurricular programs, and Korean language and culture training.

In its partnership with Gwangju's Korean Village, South Korea's largest community of ethnic Koreans who have migrated from regions including the former Soviet Union, the university will leverage online higher education and local educational resources. This collaboration aims to expand educational access for ethnic Koreans and residents with immigrant backgrounds, focusing on Korean language and culture, lifelong learning programs, and information dissemination.

Further strengthening its academic ties, the department has also partnered with Sungkyul University's Multicultural Peace Research Institute. This collaboration will foster joint research projects, academic conferences, and the development of educational content related to multiculturalism and peace education. The synergy between Kyung Hee Cyber University's online education expertise and the research institute's specialization is expected to enhance the quality and effectiveness of educational programs for multicultural learners.

Expanding its international scope, the partnership with the Japanese Korean Language Education Society will focus on supporting Korean language learners and ethnic Koreans in Japan. This includes offering online Korean language and culture programs and engaging in joint research and academic exchanges. The department aims to build a global educational ecosystem that provides inclusive learning opportunities for everyone, regardless of their background.
