La Laguna Tenerife signs American Ethan Happ for two seasons

Basketball club La Laguna Tenerife has secured the signing of American center Ethan Happ on a two-year deal, bolstering their roster for the upcoming seasons. Happ arrives with valuable experience in the Spanish basketball league, most recently playing for Recoletas San Pablo Burgos.

The 2.08-meter tall player is set to enhance the team's interior presence. During his tenure with Burgos last season, Happ averaged 12.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists across 25 games. He also led the league in steals with an average of 1.9 per game and ranked sixth in overall player valuation.

Happ's collegiate career at the University of Wisconsin saw him surpass 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds, earning him accolades such as the 'Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award' and 'Pete Newell Big Man Award' from the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

His professional journey in Europe included stints with Olympiacos in Greece, various Italian teams, and MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in Germany. Happ also holds North Macedonian nationality and represents the country internationally. He previously played in Spain for Río Breogán, where he was the league's top rebounder, and later for Dreamland Gran Canaria, where he played under current La Laguna Tenerife coach Jaka Lakovic.
