La Vinotinto femenina debuts with victory in Central American and Caribbean Games

La Vinotinto femenina, Venezuela's national women's soccer team, launched their campaign at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo with a decisive 3-0 victory over Costa Rica. The win positions Venezuela strongly in Group A as the tournament progresses.

Génesis Florez opened the scoring for Venezuela in first-half stoppage time, capitalizing on a defensive lapse and a mistimed saída by the Costa Rican goalkeeper to slot the ball into an empty net. The advantage was doubled in the second half when Gellinott Reyes headed home a corner kick in the 51st minute, extending Venezuela's lead.

Orliany Durán sealed the comprehensive win with a late goal in second-half stoppage time, confirming Venezuela's dominance over Costa Rica. With this victory, La Vinotinto currently sits atop Group A, pending the outcome of the match between Dominican Republic and El Salvador.

Beyond the soccer field, the Venezuelan delegation has also been successful in other disciplines. As of July 29, Venezuela held fourth place in the overall medal count, having secured one gold, two silver, and five bronze medals. Notably, Rafael Pereira won a gold medal in surfing, while Roberto García and José López added silver medals in speed skating and surfing, respectively. Bronze medals were earned by the rowing teams in various categories, Wilmary Toro in speed skating, and the shooting sports team.
