Lagos ADC governorship candidate Rhodes-Vivour loses mother

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the governorship candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos State, has announced the passing of his mother, Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour (née Waboso).

The announcement, shared on Rhodes-Vivour's X account, conveyed the family's sadness but also gratitude for a life well-lived. It described the late Nkechi Rhodes-Vivour as a "loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother" and the "epitome of love," stating she will be deeply missed. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced shortly.

A memorial tribute accompanying the announcement further celebrated the deceased as a beloved wife, devoted mother, and gentle spirit whose love and kindness left a lasting impression. The tribute emphasized her fierce love and endless giving, describing her arms as a home and her smile as peace, noting that her love remains unshaken in the hearts she touched.

Nkechi Rhodes-Vivour had previously come into the public eye during the 2023 Lagos governorship election. She actively supported her son's campaign, and a video clip circulated widely on election day showing her condemning alleged vote-buying at her polling unit, expressing frustration with the apparent inaction of security agencies.
