Lagos man beaten to death over missing phone

A man, identified only as Azeez, has died after being beaten by suspected cultists in the Agege area of Lagos State. The fatal assault reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a missing phone after a party.

According to a police source, Azeez was involved in an argument with some friends over the phone, which later escalated into a physical assault. The source indicated that Azeez succumbed to injuries sustained during the attack.

An anti-cultism advocacy platform, Naija Confra, provided further details, suggesting the incident began during a birthday celebration on Sunday night. A fight broke out, and a phone allegedly went missing. When the owner and his friends confronted Azeez, who was reportedly given the phone by another individual named Abela, Abela allegedly denied involvement.

Unable to confront Abela, the phone's owner and his friends allegedly attacked Azeez. The platform further claimed that Azeez later confronted Abela again, leading to another argument and a subsequent, more severe assault by suspected members of the Neo-Black Movement in another location.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer could not be reached for comment on the incident.
