Lagos Pays N3.1bn Compensation to Landowners Affected by Public Projects

The Lagos State Government has paid out more than ₦3.1 billion in compensation to over 300 landowners. These individuals had their properties acquired for various public infrastructure projects across the state. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu personally presented the compensation cheques to the beneficiaries.

The disbursement took place on Monday at Alausa, Ikeja. Governor Sanwo-Olu stated that this exercise demonstrates the administration's commitment to ensuring fairness and addressing the needs of citizens whose lands are needed for development. The compensation is intended to mitigate the impact of land acquisition for projects vital to the state's growth.

This significant payout underscores the government's efforts to balance development needs with the rights of property owners. The acquired lands are slated for use in numerous public infrastructure initiatives aimed at improving transportation, utilities, and other essential services within Lagos.
