Lai Ching-te to back Chen Pin-an at Miaoli campaign headquarters launch

President Lai Ching-te will travel to Miaoli on September 12 to appear at the campaign headquarters launch of Democratic Progressive Party county chief candidate Chen Pin-an.

The event will begin at 2 p.m. along the central walkway of Zhunan Sports Park. Chen’s campaign team said Lai will meet local residents, support Chen’s candidacy and outline central government backing for Miaoli’s transformation toward the “Taoyuan-Hsinchu-Miaoli Great Silicon Valley.”

Chen’s headquarters, named “Happy Miaoli Station,” is located in Toufen City beside a PX Mart. The campaign designed it as a living room rather than a conventional headquarters, with a “Discover Miaoli Wall” highlighting leopard cat conservation and agricultural products from the county’s 18 townships.

We hope that when people walk in, they can see Miaoli’s different landscapes and distinctive features.

The space also includes a recording station where residents can leave their hopes for their hometown, as well as a multilingual children’s book area. The design reflects the campaign’s emphasis on Miaoli as a place shared by people from diverse communities.

Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim visited the headquarters on August 30 and formally introduced it to the public. Chen said she wanted visitors to see Miaoli’s varied local character as soon as they entered, and described the headquarters as a place for residents to meet, participate and share ideas about the county’s future.
