Landscape architecture platform Landezine wins European award

Landezine, an international media platform based in Ljubljana, has received IFLA Europe’s 2026 Europe Award. Founded in 2009, it has become one of the world’s most influential and recognizable platforms dedicated to landscape architecture.

The platform publishes selected projects, critical reflections, interviews, research and other professional material. IFLA Europe said this work helps professionals, policymakers, students and the wider public understand the importance of landscape architecture.

The award citation highlighted Landezine’s international role in connecting landscape architects, exchanging knowledge and ideas, and presenting innovative, high-quality practices. IFLA Europe President Indra Purs said the profession’s role had never been more important as societies face climate change, biodiversity loss, urbanization and challenges to social well-being.

In a time when societies face unprecedented challenges linked to climate change, biodiversity loss, urbanization and social well-being, the role of landscape architects has never been more important.

Landezine founder and editor-in-chief Zašа Brezar said the award was especially meaningful because it came from the profession the platform has followed, addressed and critically examined since its creation. He argued that landscape architecture now concerns not only how spaces look, but also how people live with climate change, biodiversity loss and mounting pressure on natural resources.

The editorial team includes landscape architects and specialists Urška Škerl, Pia Kante, Katarina Poklukar and Rok Grča. IFLA Europe presented the award in Riga during its regional conference and general assembly.
