Large drug shipment seized on Kyrgyz-Tajik border

Kyrgyz border guards have intercepted a significant drug shipment near the border with Tajikistan. The State Border Service reported that the seizure occurred in the Arka-2 district of Batken region.

Acting on prior intelligence, border guards observed an individual on Tajik territory throw a large bag across the border into Kyrgyzstan. The suspect fled back into Tajikistan immediately after the act. The location was near the Mal-Bazar area.

Upon inspecting the bag, officers discovered $1,000 in cash and 16 packages wrapped in yellow tape. The packages emitted a distinct odor, and authorities identified the contents as a brown substance suspected to be Afghan charas, commonly known as hashish. The total weight of the seized substance was 15.95 kilograms.

The cash and the suspected narcotics were subsequently handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation and processing.
