Late goals deny KSC a notable result against Inter

Karlsruher SC narrowly missed out on a notable pre-season upset, falling 2-1 to Italian champions Inter Milan in a friendly match at the nearly full BBBank Wildpark stadium.

The German second-division side took the lead in the 50th minute through substitute Tim Civeja. However, Inter Milan, fielding two different teams in each half, staged a dramatic comeback with two goals in stoppage time from Andy Diouf (90.+1 and 90.+4), snatching the victory.

KSC, under new coach Maximilian Senft, showed a courageous and proactive performance for large parts of the match. They created several good chances before halftime, with captain Marvin Wanitzek hitting the crossbar from a distance and Danyal Zor narrowly missing the target from close range. Even after taking the lead, the home team maintained a solid impression.

Senft fielded four new signings in his starting lineup: Deniz Ofli, Kevin Wiethaup, Moritz Broschinski, and Danyal Zor. The team will have one more test match against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim next Saturday before their league season opener against Arminia Bielefeld on August 8.

Despite the late disappointment, the performance against a top European club like Inter Milan offered positive signs for KSC ahead of their upcoming league campaign.
