Latest Forecast: The Weekend Weather Will Offer Little Relief

The weekend forecast brings little promise of settled weather across Latvia. Friday will be cloudy, with rain in many areas and thunderstorms possible in the north. Some storms could bring heavy or very heavy downpours.

Southerly to southwesterly winds will remain light to moderate, but gusts could reach 15 to 17 meters per second overnight on the coast and during the day in central and eastern parts of the country. Temperatures will fall to 12°C to 17°C overnight and rise to 15°C to 18°C during the day.

Saturday will stay mostly cloudy, with occasional clear spells. Rain is expected across most of Latvia, and some locations could see thunderstorms and heavy showers. Winds will turn westerly or southwesterly and become gusty along the coast. Daytime temperatures will reach 14°C to 17°C.

Clouds should thin on Sunday, although rain will remain widespread and thunderstorms could occur in places. Strong showers are possible overnight. Winds will shift from westerly and southwesterly at night to westerly and northwesterly during the day, with gusts of 15 to 16 meters per second along the Gulf of Riga coast from midday. Fog may develop in some areas overnight. Temperatures will drop to 8°C to 11°C, or 11°C to 15°C near the coast, before climbing to 15°C to 18°C during the day.

Monday is expected to be mostly dry. From Tuesday, however, a new cyclone will bring more frequent cloud and precipitation. Daytime temperatures will remain relatively warm, reaching 20°C in some places.
