Latoya Malcolm, Miss Jamaica 2024, dies at 35

Latoya Malcolm, who represented Jamaica in the 2024 Miss Universe pageant and also held the title of Miss Jamaica Bikini International, has died at the age of 35. The Miss Universe pageant confirmed her passing on its official social media accounts.

"We deeply regret the passing of Latoya Malcolm, who proudly shared in the Miss Universe Jamaica 2024 pageant. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and loved ones. Rest in peace, Latoya, we will never forget you," the pageant stated on Instagram.

Malcolm was a multifaceted personality, known on her social media platforms as a television presenter, actress, dance performer, and traveler. Earlier in July, she appeared on the morning program "Smile Jamaica," where she shared her passion for dance with the show's hosts. Her last international trip was in June, visiting the Dominican Republic, including Saona Island and Punta Cana, where she utilized her Spanish language skills.

Gabrielle Henry, the current Miss Jamaica, who experienced a severe fall during her participation in the pageant last November, expressed her deep sorrow over Malcolm's death. "After many years of experiencing loss and hardship, I have learned the profound relevance of stopping and reflecting on the lives of those who lived fully, without apology and with great passion," Henry said. "Learning of Latoya's passing is a great loss for her family and the community at large. Jamaica, her legacy will be remembered, and her voice will not be forgotten. I send my deepest condolences to her family, may she rest in peace."
