Latvia Resumes Train Services After Storm Damage; Some Delays Expected

Train services across Latvia are set to resume on Monday, August 24, after extensive repairs following storm damage. "Vivi" Communications and Marketing Department head Sigita Paula confirmed that services on the Tukums, Jelgava, Aizkraukle, Sigulda, Daugavpils, Rēzekne, and Liepāja lines will operate according to schedule. However, Paula cautioned that some train journeys might still experience delays due to ongoing infrastructure repair work.

On the Skulte line, train operations will be limited to the Riga-Saulkrasti section. Passengers traveling between Saulkrasti and Skulte will use replacement buses, which will depart according to the train schedule. These bus and train services will be coordinated to ensure smooth transfers, with trains waiting for delayed buses to facilitate passenger connections.

Full train service on the Saulkrasti-Skulte section is expected to resume by 8:00 PM on August 24, once "Latvijas dzelzceļš" (Latvian Railways) completes the necessary infrastructure and power line restoration. In the Ieriķi-Valga section, some train services may be delayed due to power supply issues, which Latvian Railways aims to resolve by 6:00 PM on August 24.
