Latvian Journalists' Association Announces Nominees for "Excellence Award 2026"

The Latvian Journalists' Association (LŽA) has revealed the nominees for its prestigious "Excellence Award 2026," following a thorough evaluation of 180 works submitted by journalists across the country.

Digital news outlet "Delfi" has emerged as a frontrunner, securing seven nominations in categories such as "News/Reportage," "Interview," "Description," "Research and Analytics," "Regional Journalism," and "Editor of the Year."

This year's awards introduce expanded categories, including "Reporter of the Year," "Golden Shot," and "Young Journalist of the Year," alongside the traditional awards and special prizes selected by the jury and the LŽA board. The previous "Interview and Description" category has been split into two distinct awards.

Works submitted for consideration were published between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026, covering a wide spectrum of Latvian journalism, from daily news and human interest stories to in-depth research and visual reporting. The high number of submissions underscores the continued vitality and ambition of quality journalism in Latvia.
