Lautaro Martínez laments not playing in World Cup final

Lautaro Martínez, a forward for Argentina's national soccer team, shared his pride in his country and his teammates following their World Cup final defeat to Spain. The striker expressed regret for not being able to contribute on the field during the championship match, which Argentina lost 1-0.

"I would have liked to help the team yesterday on the field, but oh well," Martínez posted on Instagram, referencing the final where he did not play. Coach Lionel Scaloni opted for tactical changes and defensive adjustments due to injuries and the game's dynamics, leaving Martínez on the bench for the first time in the tournament.

Martínez extended his gratitude to the Argentine fans for their unwavering support throughout the World Cup. "Thank you to all the people who accompanied us throughout this World Cup, traveling kilometers and kilometers to be close to us, and to all the people who backed us from every corner of our country," he wrote.

The Inter Milan player began the World Cup as a starter but eventually lost his position to Julián Álvarez. Despite limited minutes in the final, Martínez scored three goals during the tournament: a penalty against Jordan, a crucial goal in the quarterfinals against Switzerland, and a significant header in the semifinals against England. He also provided a key assist to Enzo Fernández in the Round of 16 match against Egypt.
