Lawyer Stavros Georgiou murder: Video shows him with another person shortly before death; three scenarios explored

Greek police are investigating the murder of lawyer Stavros Georgiou, whose body was discovered in his office on 3rd September Street in Agios Panteleimonas. A crucial piece of evidence in the investigation is security camera footage capturing Georgiou's final hours.

The video shows Georgiou parking his car across from his office on Monday evening and entering the building. A second figure is seen moving near him in the footage, though their identity and gender remain unconfirmed. Detectives from the Homicide Department are collecting further video evidence from security cameras throughout the area and interviewing residents and business owners.

Scenario one: A very personal, private contact of his and something went wrong. Something went wrong and this happened. Second, one of his cases, perhaps a big, sensational or perhaps a secret case, this is also being investigated. And the third, robbery, for which there is only one clue, that his mobile phone is missing.

Authorities are considering multiple possibilities, including the involvement of more than one perpetrator. Georgiou's recent contacts and appointments prior to his death are under scrutiny. Police analyst Stavros Balaskas outlined three primary scenarios being examined.

Allow me to tell you, however strange or peculiar it may sound, that for our IQ and for Homicide, this is not a very difficult case.

The first scenario suggests a personal or private matter that went wrong. The second possibility involves one of Georgiou's legal cases, potentially a high-profile or sensitive one. The third scenario is robbery, supported by the fact that his mobile phone is missing. Balaskas noted that while the crime is serious, particularly given Georgiou's public profile as a lawyer, investigators believe it is not an exceptionally difficult case to solve.

Georgiou was found deceased in his office, in a pool of blood, with numerous injuries, primarily to his head and torso, consistent with a violent beating. His two young twin daughters, accompanied by a relative, discovered the body when they went to look for him after he could not be reached. The building's doorman opened the office door for them. The investigation is proceeding with sensitivity, considering the victim's profession and the presence of his young children.

The essence is that it is a very serious crime against a public figure, an institutional factor, because Stavros is a lawyer, and against a fundamentally innocent person, who was found naked in a fetal position in his office, dead with many blows, most of them to the head and torso from kicks.
