Lazdijai Mayor Reaffiliates with Democratic Union 'Vardan Lietuvos'

Lazdijai Mayor Ausma Miškinienė has officially renewed her membership in the Democratic Union "Vardan Lietuvos" (For Lithuania), a move confirmed by the party's board. Miškinienė, who was instrumental in the party's founding and regional strengthening, had temporarily suspended her membership three years prior.

Three years ago, I decided to suspend my membership in the Democratic Union 'Vardan Lietuvos,' and I also resigned from the positions of deputy chair and board member. I stopped so that I could clearly answer all the questions that arose at the time. I took full responsibility, presented the evidence, answered all questions, and today I am very happy that I can calmly and confidently return and move forward.

Explaining her previous decision, Miškinienė stated, "Three years ago, I decided to suspend my membership in the Democratic Union 'Vardan Lietuvos,' and I also resigned from the positions of deputy chair and board member. I stopped so that I could clearly answer all the questions that arose at the time. I took full responsibility, presented the evidence, answered all questions, and today I am very happy that I can calmly and confidently return and move forward."

Virginijus Sinkevičius, the interim chairman of the Democratic Union, welcomed Miškinienė back, emphasizing the importance of actions in politics. He expressed confidence that her experience and involvement would be a significant contribution to achieving solutions that the Lithuanian people await. With her membership restored, Miškinienė automatically rejoins the party's board and political council, like other mayors affiliated with the Democrats.

Miškinienė shared her renewed commitment on Facebook, reiterating her desire to contribute to the development of her native Lazdijai region and Lithuania as a whole, particularly focusing on strengthening regions. She expressed a wish for peace, security, and trust to return to communities after facing various challenges. Acknowledging the party's recent struggles and criticisms, she stated her readiness to work collaboratively to regain public trust and build a nation where all honorable, free, hardworking, and patriotic Lithuanians can thrive.

From today, I am again a member of the Democratic Union 'Vardan Lietuvos.' [...] I continue the work started, with my knowledge, experience, and competence I will actively contribute not only to my native Lazdijai region but also to the creation of the state, and especially – to the strengthening of regions. It is very important to me that after so many upheavals in the state – peace, security, and trust return to our communities. Together with the entire democratic community, we have experienced many challenges, I perfectly understand and accept both the reasons for the more modest ratings and the objective arrows of opponents. I am ready to work together to prove that we are worthy of trust, uniting, solving problems, and creating such a state where all honorable, free, hardworking, and Lithuania-loving people can live well. From the bottom of my heart, I thank everyone who has been and is with me on this path.
