Le Trong Yen appointed deputy agriculture and environment minister

Le Trong Yen has moved from provincial administration to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, taking up a deputy minister’s post after the prime minister’s appointment.

Minister Trinh Viet Hung handed Yen the decision on September 7 on behalf of the prime minister. Hung congratulated him and highlighted his experience in leadership, management and practical administration at the local level, especially in agriculture and environmental work.

The minister said the department oversees 17 areas of state management. Its responsibilities are broad, highly cross-sectoral and directly affect economic and social development and people’s lives. He urged Yen to quickly master his new duties, use his local experience to help improve policy and implementation, and work with the ministry’s leadership to maintain unity.

In his new role, Yen said he would concentrate on agricultural restructuring, green growth, climate-change adaptation, resource management, environmental protection and international commitments. Born in 1973, he holds a doctorate in land management. Before the merger of Lam Dong, Dak Nong and Binh Thuan into the current Lam Dong province, he held senior posts in Dak Nong, including director of its agriculture and rural development department, director of its natural resources and environment department, and vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.
