Leading countries convinced me of presidential candidacy

Tim Farčnik is poised to become the first Slovenian president of the International Biathlon Union (IBU). While the international federation has not yet made an official announcement, Farčnik is the only candidate for the upcoming presidential election. He has been involved in the biathlon world for a long time and has been a member of the IBU executive board since 2022.

Despite the warm summer weather, the biathlon community is already buzzing with activity. Athletes are engaged in conditioning training or, like the alpine skiers, are already on snow. Officials, meanwhile, are busy planning the new season. Among them is Tim Farčnik, the sole Slovenian and indeed the only candidate for the IBU presidency.

Farčnik spoke to Delo after submitting his candidacy for the election, scheduled for mid-September. He confirmed that his candidacy is currently unofficial, pending a thorough review by the IBU leadership. He acknowledged the unique situation of being the only candidate and expressed his commitment to the sport.
