Lee Chang-dong's New Film 'Possible Love' Invited to Venice Competition

Director Lee Chang-dong's highly anticipated new film, 'Possible Love,' has received an official invitation to compete in the main section of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. This prestigious honor follows its earlier selection for the 51st Toronto International Film Festival.

'Possible Love' tells the story of two couples who confront different lives and hidden desires when they meet to create a documentary. The film features a stellar cast including Jeon Do-yeon, Sol Kyung-gu, Jo In-sung, and Jo Yeo-jeong. This marks Lee's first directorial work in eight years since his acclaimed film 'Burning.'

The Venice International Film Festival, alongside the Cannes and Berlin film festivals, is considered one of the world's top four cinematic events, known for showcasing films that blend artistic merit with popular appeal. The competition section, where 'Possible Love' will vie for awards like the Golden Lion, is the festival's core program.

This invitation makes 'Possible Love' the 12th South Korean film to compete in Venice's main section. It is also a significant return for director Lee Chang-dong, who last competed at the festival 24 years ago with his film 'Oasis,' which garnered five awards, including Best Director and Best Actress for Moon So-ri.
