Lenovo Says Riyadh Plant Will Begin Commercial Production in Late 2026

Lenovo has unveiled its first laptop made in Saudi Arabia as the company shifts its partnership with Alat toward domestic technology production. Large-scale commercial manufacturing at the new Riyadh facility is expected to begin in late 2026.

The plant will be Lenovo’s largest outside China and the first in its global network designed to produce laptops, desktop computers, servers and Motorola smartphones at a single site. The facility will serve markets across the Middle East, Türkiye and Africa.

Salman Faqeeh, Lenovo’s vice president and general manager for Saudi Arabia, described the laptop as an important milestone. He said the Riyadh site had been designed to manufacture Lenovo’s full product portfolio over time and to support Saudi Arabia’s industrial ambitions, regional demand and the company’s global supply chain.

The Riyadh facility has been designed to produce Lenovo’s product portfolio over time, including PCs, desktop computers, servers and Motorola smartphones.

The facility is being built on a site of about 200,000 square meters at Riyadh Integrated, operated by the Special Integrated Logistics Zone near King Khalid International Airport. The project forms part of a strategic partnership between Lenovo and Alat, a Public Investment Fund-owned company, to build an industrial and technology manufacturing base.

Lenovo opened its regional headquarters in Riyadh in April 2026 and is expanding manufacturing, research and development, innovation initiatives and local talent programs. Faqeeh said Saudi Arabia was becoming more important to Lenovo not only as a market, but also as a center for leadership, innovation, talent development and manufacturing.
