Levante and Club América complete Carlos Álvarez transfer

Carlos Álvarez is leaving Levante after playing a defining role in the club’s return to Spain’s top division. The Valencia side said it had completed an agreement to transfer the 23-year-old midfielder to Club América in Mexico.

Álvarez joined Levante in 2023, when the club was in the second division. He became one of the main figures in its promotion campaign, scoring the goal in the 96th minute of the decisive match against Burgos on May 25, 2025. That strike secured Levante’s rise to Primera División.

The Andalusian midfielder finishes his Levante career with 105 appearances, 14 goals and 14 assists. The club had expressed interest in extending his contract after the promotion, but the two sides failed to reach a renewal agreement during the past year. With his contract due to expire in 2027, Levante accepted his departure in a permanent transfer this summer.

In a farewell message, Levante thanked Álvarez for his “commitment from the first day, dedication, effort, work and every drop of sweat” given in defense of the club’s “badge.” The club said he had helped create “one of the great chapters in our history,” and wished him success in his new professional stage. Club América announced the signing on its social media accounts, although it has not yet provided details of the contract, which is expected to run until 2029. Álvarez was born in Sanlúcar la Mayor, Seville, and developed at Sevilla, where he made his top-flight debut before moving to Levante because of limited first-team opportunities.
