Lexus NX Series 2027 Model Year Expected, Environmental Agency Data Confirms

Lexus is gearing up to introduce the 2027 model year of its highly successful NX SUV, a move confirmed by the latest submission data to the Environmental Protection Agency. This upcoming iteration is set to continue offering a diverse range of powertrain options to cater to various consumer preferences and needs.

The submitted data reveals that four distinct powertrains will be available for the 2027 NX. This includes the entry-level NX200 with its 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, the more powerful NX350 featuring a 2.4-liter turbocharged unit, and two hybrid variants: the NX350h+ with a 2.5-liter hybrid system and the NX450h+ employing a 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid setup. This consistency in powertrain offerings suggests Lexus is confident in its current engine and drivetrain strategy for the NX line.

While the confirmation of powertrains is significant, details regarding specific equipment and feature adjustments for the 2027 model remain undisclosed. Japanese automotive media, however, has speculated about a potential mid-cycle refresh scheduled for October. This update is anticipated to include aesthetic enhancements, such as a revised spindle grille and a redesigned dual-layer LED daytime running light signature. Furthermore, the integration of the next-generation Arene OS infotainment system, with over-the-air update capabilities, is also expected.

In Taiwan, Lexus recently enhanced the NX200 Elite and Luxury trims with an AI-powered navigation and entertainment upgrade developed by M-Tech. This system incorporates augmented reality navigation, AI voice guidance, and online streaming services. The AI navigation feature provides real-time AR overlays for crucial intersections and supports natural language voice commands. The system includes a four-year free trial of its large language model-based semantic understanding function, after which a subscription fee will apply.
