LG Uplus Acquires Security Firm Pagonetworks to Bolster Cybersecurity

LG Uplus has acquired Pagonetworks, a South Korean company specializing in managed detection and response (MDR) services. The acquisition aims to bolster LG Uplus's internal security infrastructure and advance its security-focused growth strategy.

Pagnetworks, established in 2017, is recognized as a leading provider of MDR solutions in the domestic cybersecurity market. Unlike traditional security tools that primarily focus on threat detection, MDR services involve expert personnel who analyze and respond to actual security incidents.

The company utilizes its proprietary AI-based security operations platform, 'DeepACT,' to deliver 24/7 security monitoring, threat detection, and incident response. Pagonetworks serves a diverse range of industries, including energy, manufacturing, semiconductors, finance, public sector, and telecommunications.

By internalizing Pagonetworks' expertise in threat detection, analysis, and response, LG Uplus intends to upgrade its company-wide security framework. This move is also expected to facilitate the expansion of its security business offerings to corporate customers.
