LGBTIQ+ Community Holds Festive Caravan in Santo Domingo

The streets of Santo Domingo pulsed with energy on Sunday as the LGBTIQ+ community hosted a lively caravan. Dozens of participants filled the capital's avenues, transforming the city into a festive celebration of music and vibrant colors.

The procession kicked off at 2:00 PM from Terminal Don Diego, winding through various neighborhoods of the capital. A diverse array of vehicles, from motorcycles and electric scooters to jeeps and minibuses, joined the caravan. Music celebrating the LGBTIQ+ community provided a constant soundtrack to the journey through Santo Domingo's streets.

Significant police presence ensured the event proceeded smoothly and in order. Officers from the National Police and the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation (Digesett) were stationed throughout the route to maintain order and manage traffic flow.

Following the caravan, the celebration continued after 7:00 PM with a lineup of artistic presentations and entertainment. La Fiera Típica took the stage around 7:45 PM, delivering a merengue típico performance that had the audience dancing to Dominican rhythms. The atmosphere remained one of joyous celebration, drawing together members of the LGBTIQ+ community and allies.
