LGS Application Period for High School Admissions Ends Tomorrow

The application process for Turkish high school admissions, based on the central exam (LGS), is set to close tomorrow at 5:00 PM. Students are currently making their selections through the e-Okul system, choosing from schools that admit students based on central exam scores, local placement, or boarding facilities.

This year, 198,899 students are slated to be placed in schools that utilize the central exam. The distribution includes 60,886 spots in Anatolian high schools, 38,700 in science high schools, 9,210 in social sciences high schools, 43,706 in Anatolian Imam Hatip high schools, and 46,397 in vocational and technical Anatolian high schools. Placement in these schools will prioritize students with higher exam scores.

In cases of equal scores, the ranking will consider the student's School Achievement Score (OBP), followed by their final grades from 8th, 7th, and 6th grades. Further tie-breakers include fewer days of unexcused absence in 8th grade, preference order, and finally, the younger age if the tie persists. Information on quotas and last year's percentile ranks for LGS schools is available on the e-Okul system and the "Rota Maarif" platform.

Placement results will be announced on August 5th on meb.gov.tr. Subsequent application periods for transfers (nakil) are scheduled for August 5-7 (first round, results August 10th) and August 10-12 (second round, results August 14th). Students unable to secure a placement through these rounds can apply to provincial and district commissions between August 17th and 26th, with final placements by these commissions on August 28th. Applications for boarding facilities will be accepted from August 31st to September 3rd, with results announced on September 4th.
