Anonymous Donor Gifts $3,700 to Aid South Korean Flood Victims

A mysterious benefactor, known only as the 'anonymous angel,' has once again demonstrated extraordinary generosity by donating 5 million won (approximately $3,700) to aid residents affected by recent heavy rains in South Korea's southern region. The donation was discovered in a box left outside the Gyeongnam provincial office of the Community Chest of Korea.

Inside the box were the cash, a single chrysanthemum, and a handwritten letter. The note expressed condolences for those who lost their lives and offered comfort to those displaced by the flooding. The donor wrote, "I offer my deepest condolences to those who sacrificed their lives due to the heavy rains in the southern region, and I send my heartfelt comfort to the flood victims. This act of kindness follows a similar donation of 5 million won made just a month prior to assist victims of an earthquake in Venezuela. The anonymous donor has been a consistent supporter since 2017, making donations during year-end holidays and in response to domestic and international disasters. This latest contribution is the 24th such act, bringing the total amount donated over nine years to more than 760 million won (approximately $560,000).

When I saw the chrysanthemum in the box and the handwritten letter, I was deeply moved by the donor's warm heart, who has continued to share generously during disasters.

Staff at the Community Chest described being moved by the consistent warmth of the donor's gestures, particularly the inclusion of a chrysanthemum and a personal note with each delivery. Park Eun-deok, head of the Gyeongnam office, expressed deep gratitude for the donor's thoughtfulness during a time of hardship for many, promising that the funds would be used effectively to help victims recover their lives.
