Lima Norte: Migraciones and police check 501 foreigners in enforcement operation

Peru’s National Superintendence of Migration and National Police intervened 501 foreign nationals during an immigration enforcement operation in several parts of Lima Norte.

The deployment involved 181 agents, including 140 police officers and 41 immigration inspectors. Officials checked the documents and immigration status of the people stopped during the operation.

Those found to be in an irregular situation were referred to the National Police’s Foreigners Division, which will continue the procedures established under current rules.

National Migration Superintendent Luis Yunis Herrera said the operation followed prior coordination between his agency and the police. He said the joint planning aimed to strengthen the state’s presence in different parts of Lima through immigration control and enforcement actions.

Authorities announced that verification operations will continue in strategic areas of Lima and in other regions of Peru. Migraciones and the National Police will continue working together to check immigration status and compliance with the country’s regulations.
