Limenka Teatar Fest: Children's Theater and Ecology Unite in Požarevac

Požarevac, Serbia, will host the fifth Limenka Teatar Fest, an international children's theater festival that uniquely blends artistic performance with environmental consciousness. Running from September 9 to 13, the festival encourages attendees to contribute by donating used drink cans instead of purchasing tickets. These recycled cans will fund the establishment of a library at the Požarevac hospital's children's department.

Artistic director Valentina Pavličić highlighted the festival's aim to foster a sense of collective responsibility among children and their families. "A small effort, something good and useful that they do, like a snowball rolling and growing, will turn into something big and beautiful," she stated, emphasizing the lasting impact of their participation.

This year, the children of Požarevac and their families will have a unique opportunity to do something beautiful and useful together for themselves, their city, country, and planet. The festival lineup includes nine plays from six countries: Bulgaria, Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, and Serbia. The program kicks off with "Trio Rio" from Croatia, a comedic acrobatic and juggling performance about a traveling circus family. Other featured shows include "The Wizard of Oz" by the National Theatre Priština-Gračanica and an adaptation of Nušić's "The Suspicious Person" by Okret Teatar from Belgrade.
