Lithuania arrests 17-year-old German girl suspected of murder in Germany

A 17-year-old German national has been apprehended in Lithuania, suspected of fatally stabbing a peer in Germany approximately five months prior. The young woman, identified as Angela R., is accused of the premeditated and treacherous stabbing of a fellow student on January 14 in Castrop-Rauxel, Germany. Following her arrest based on the European arrest warrant, she is expected to be handed over to German authorities. If Angela R. consents to extradition, the process could be swift. This reward, coupled with crucial information provided by a witness regarding the suspect's whereabouts in a Lithuanian coastal city, reportedly aided investigators in tracking her down.

Investigators previously suggested the incident occurred on the terrace of an abandoned house where the suspect and victim met. Angela R. allegedly stabbed the victim in the neck. She was initially arrested but later released, having claimed self-defense, which initially aligned with evidence at the scene. However, prosecutors later found specific evidence on the victim's mobile phone indicating the stabbing was without justifiable cause. The suspect had fled by then, and the motives behind the crime remain unconfirmed by investigators.
