Lithuania braces for heat, thunderstorms, and strong winds

Lithuania is set for a significant warm spell in the coming days, with mid-week temperatures expected to climb as high as 32 degrees Celsius in some areas. This period of intense heat, however, will not be without its dramatic weather phenomena.

Thunderstorms and strong wind gusts are forecast to accompany the high temperatures. Wind speeds could reach between 15 and 20 meters per second, particularly on Wednesday and Thursday. These days may also see short-lived heavy showers and widespread thunderstorms across the country.

A shift in weather patterns is anticipated for Thursday, leading to more unstable conditions. Wind gusts might reach 15-17 meters per second. Overnight temperatures will remain warm, between 15-20 degrees Celsius, while daytime highs will range from 26-31 degrees Celsius, though western Lithuania may experience slightly cooler temperatures around 22-25 degrees Celsius.

From Friday onwards, the weather is expected to cool down and become calmer. The probability of rain will decrease, with nighttime temperatures ranging from 13-18 degrees Celsius and daytime temperatures between 20-25 degrees Celsius. The weekend is predicted to be largely dry, with nighttime temperatures between 9-15 degrees Celsius and daytime highs from 18-24 degrees Celsius.
