Lithuania: 'Būtent!' Discussion Festival Features 'Delfi' Journalists

The upcoming 'Būtent!' discussion festival, set to take place in Vilnius' Bernardinų sodas on August 28-29, will feature a significant presence from 'Delfi' and the news agency ELTA. This event invites the public to engage directly with journalists and experts on a variety of pressing issues.

'Delfi' is organizing a dedicated discussion titled "Do Algorithms Tell the Truth?" on Saturday at 5 PM in the "Future Generations" space. This session aims to explore the future of media and its profound influence on societal well-being, encouraging attendees to participate in shaping the conversation.

We all know that media and information consumption are changing, so we cannot simply operate by inertia as we used to. Media must adapt to how the new generation consumes information, but at the same time remain reliable, fight disinformation, it must be the source of information that society trusts. If local media collapses, the consequences for society would be catastrophic.

Throughout the festival, 'Delfi' journalists will moderate and participate in numerous other discussions. Topics range from ensuring the safety of minors online and the EU's response to social media risks, to the economics of green transformation, investigative journalism challenges, regional development strategies, and the transition from a low-wage economy to a "brains economy."

Other discussions will delve into resilience against threats, the media's portrayal of death, and Lithuania's capacity for self-defense through domestic production. Attendees are encouraged to choose topics and speakers of interest and join the live dialogues, fostering a space for informed public discourse.
