Lithuania Opens Reserve Generators for Residents Without Power After Storm

Lithuania is mobilizing its reserve generators to provide essential electricity to thousands of residents still affected by a recent severe storm. The electricity supply company ESO has requested state assistance to access these backup generators, which will be deployed to areas where the power grid has sustained significant damage.

Approximately 30,000 customers remain without electricity, although power has been successfully restored to about 90% of those initially impacted. ESO is actively gathering information from municipalities to pinpoint the exact locations where additional generators are most critically needed. Some customers are already receiving temporary power from generators, and the company is exploring other methods to ensure continuous supply.

This initiative underscores the challenges faced in restoring full power after extreme weather events. The deployment of reserve generators is a crucial step in mitigating the disruption caused by the storm and ensuring that affected households can regain essential services while permanent repairs are completed.
