Lithuania proposes over 12.2 million euros in aid for Ukrainian refugees

Lithuania is set to provide significant financial assistance to Ukrainian refugees, with the Ministry of Finance proposing to allocate over 12.2 million euros to the Ministry of Social Security and Labour. This funding aims to cover various essential needs for those fleeing the conflict in Ukraine.

The majority of the funds, nearly 11.94 million euros, will be used to reimburse previous expenses incurred between April and June 2026. These costs primarily relate to social benefits for refugees. An additional 310,000 euros are earmarked for expenses between July and September 2026, specifically for children without parental care and other support services for foreigners.

Further allocations include funds for social services, one-time settlement payments, and compensation for children's education costs. The Priėmimo ir integracijos agentūra (Reception and Integration Agency), which assists individuals relocating from Ukraine, will also receive 2,800 euros for its operational expenses. These funds will be distributed to municipalities according to established procedures, with oversight to ensure proper utilization.
