Sisters Celebrate 102nd and 104th Birthdays, Share Secrets to Long Life

Sisters Verutė and Pranutė recently celebrated remarkable birthdays, with Verutė turning 102 and Pranutė reaching 104 years old. The milestone birthdays were honored with a special celebration at the St. Vincent de Paul care home in Biržai, Lithuania, where they reside.

The care home community, staff, and guests gathered for the festivities, which included live instrumental music by the local folk music band "Širvėna" and dancing. A "paradise of fun" bunny character also entertained attendees, encouraging everyone to join in a circle dance. Notably, the centenarian Verutė actively participated in the dancing, embodying a spirit of vitality.

This celebration highlights the care home's tradition of honoring residents who reach 100 years or more. They create unique wreaths for these jubilarians each year, this time using tansy and silverweed. The home emphasizes that every resident's birthday is celebrated, but those reaching triple digits are given exceptional recognition.

When asked about the secret to their longevity, the sisters pointed to factors beyond conventional health advice. They emphasized the importance of hard work, patience, and prayer in their lives.
