Lithuania's U16 girls' team suffers second loss at European Championship

The Lithuanian U16 women's basketball team suffered their second consecutive defeat at the European Championship, losing decisively to Slovenia with a score of 79-51. After two rounds, both Lithuania and Slovenia have recorded two losses and two wins, respectively.

Lithuania managed to keep the game competitive in the first half, trailing by eight points at halftime with a score of 39-31. However, the turning point came in the third quarter. The Lithuanian team struggled offensively, scoring a mere 4 points in the 10-minute period, while Slovenia added 16 points. This allowed Slovenia to establish a commanding 55-35 lead heading into the final quarter.

Slovenia further extended their advantage in the fourth quarter to secure the victory. Urtė Gurevičiūtė was the top scorer for Lithuania with 14 points, followed by Viltė Lendziavičiūtė with 9 points. The Lithuanian team recorded only 6 assists and committed 26 turnovers, shooting 28% from the field and making just 4 three-pointers out of 23 attempts.

For Slovenia, Ajda Praper and Ema Lorbek both scored 11 points, while Veronika Ferjančič contributed 9 points and 9 rebounds. Lithuania's group stage play will conclude on Sunday with a match against Hungary.
