Lithuania warns of possible train delays on Monday due to storm aftermath

Lithuanian railway services are warning of potential train delays on Monday as the country continues to recover from a severe weekend storm. The storm caused significant disruptions, with trees and branches falling onto tracks and power lines, leading to restricted services and delays.

During the weekend, an estimated 3,500 passengers encountered travel disruptions. "Lietuvos geležinkeliai" (Lithuanian Railways) reported that while most obstacles have been cleared from the tracks, some power supply issues persist in specific sections. The company has apologized for the inconvenience and thanked passengers for their understanding.

To address the storm's impact, extensive efforts were mobilized over the weekend. Approximately 200 specialists from railway infrastructure, traffic management, safety, and customer service departments worked continuously, including through the night, to remove obstructions and ensure the smooth resumption of train traffic.
