Lithuanian Agnė Subelytė becomes first woman from country to summit Mount Everest

Lithuanian alpinist Agnė Subelytė has reached a new pinnacle in her mountaineering career, successfully summiting Mount Everest, the world's highest peak. This remarkable feat makes her the first Lithuanian woman to achieve this distinction.

The news of her Everest ascent on May 21st was announced by her expedition organizers, the Nepal-based "Seven Summit Treks." The company shared that Subelytė was part of an international team that reached the summit, marking a significant milestone in their climbing season.

This latest achievement adds to Subelytė's already impressive list of high-altitude successes. Earlier in May, she became the first Lithuanian woman to conquer Makalu, a peak standing at 8485 meters. Just last weekend, alpinist Tadas Jeršovas reported that Subelytė also reached the summit of Lhotse, the fourth highest mountain in the world at 8516 meters.

Subelytė's consistent success on some of the planet's most challenging mountains highlights her dedication and skill in extreme mountaineering. Her ascents are being closely followed by the Lithuanian mountaineering community and the public alike.
