Lithuanian Football Federation Expels FK Riteriai, Annuls Results

Vilnius-based FK Riteriai has been removed from Lithuania's top football league, TOPLYGA, with all their season results annulled, the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) announced. The LFF Disciplinary Committee convened an extraordinary meeting on June 14 to examine potential violations of licensing rules, championship regulations, and the Disciplinary Code by FK Riteriai. The club was given until June 15 to rectify its licensing problems but failed to do so. Furthermore, FK Riteriai B, the club's reserve team, was previously disqualified from the LFF II League A Division. This violates TOPLYGA regulations, which mandate that participating clubs must have reserve teams competing in the LFF I or II leagues. Consequently, the LFF Disciplinary Committee revoked FK Riteriai's A license for the 2026 TOPLYGA championship. The LFF Executive Committee subsequently removed the club and its team from the list of participants. As the team had not completed half of its scheduled matches, its results were voided. Riteriai has been struggling with severe financial issues since the season began, particularly after Clancy Osei Konadu, 28, took over the club. Despite promises, the club faltered, failing to pay wages. In early June, LFF President Edgaras Stankevičius indicated that Riteriai's outstanding obligations to players and staff could amount to approximately 150,000 euros.
