Lithuanian MP Linas Jonauskas divorces wife Evita

Lithuanian Member of Parliament Linas Jonauskas and his wife Evita are divorcing, according to reports from Alfa.lt. The couple has reportedly filed for divorce based on mutual consent, indicating the separation is proceeding without significant conflict.

This development comes after a previous controversy surrounding provocative photos posted by Evita Jonauskas on social media. Following initial contact from L. Jonauskas, these photos were promptly removed from E. Jonauskės's Instagram account.

I think everything is fine. Those photos are not vulgar or explicit. In any case, she is a young and beautiful woman who worked as a model. I don't see anything wrong with that, especially since there are other examples in the world, like, for instance, the wife of the former French president Carla Bruni, who posed completely nude. Also, A. Bilotaitė appeared semi-nude on stage and people saw nothing wrong with it.

Linas Jonauskas later spoke openly to DELFI about his views on his wife's photos. He stated that he found nothing wrong with them, describing them as not vulgar or explicit. Jonauskas noted that Evita is a young, attractive woman who previously worked as a model. He drew parallels to other public figures, such as Carla Bruni, the former French president's wife, and A. Bilotaitė, who appeared semi-nude on stage without significant public outcry. Jonauskas suggested that with elections approaching, his competitors might be monitoring his life and sending such matters to the media.

When asked why the photos were removed after the initial inquiry, the politician explained that he had discussed the matter with his wife, who reacted sensitively and decided to delete them. Jonauskas humorously added that if the photos had been vulgar, he might have urged their immediate removal. However, he emphasized that the decision to remove them was ultimately his wife's, and he would have personally left them online.

The most important thing is that you have these photos and can show them. If they were vulgar, then perhaps I would have said that they need to be removed as soon as possible – she laughed. – But this is her decision whether to remove them or not. In her place, I would have left those photos.
