Lokomotiva Beats Gorica 3-1 to Join Osijek at League Summit

Lokomotiva secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Gorica at their Maksimir stadium, marking their second win in the Croatian Football League (HNL) this season. The win propels them to the top of the league standings with a perfect six points, level with Osijek.

Lokomotiva established a two-goal lead in the first half. Mirko Marić opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a header from a Pajač cross. The advantage was doubled in the 40th minute when Ante Kavelj's own goal deflected in another Pajač delivery.

Gorica fought back in the second half, with Bruno Bogojević reducing the deficit in the 60th minute after a swift counter-attack. However, Lokomotiva sealed their victory deep into stoppage time when Noel Đurković capitalized on a Gorica push forward to score on a counter-attack, making it 3-1.

Despite an even first half, Lokomotiva's superior finishing made the difference. Gorica had chances to equalize, notably through Braut and Pavičić, but failed to convert. The match saw Lokomotiva's goalkeeper Posavec make a crucial save, while Gorica's Matijaš had a shaky moment on a corner kick that was cleared off the line by Kavelj.
