Lokomotiva Strengthens Squad, Eyes Return of Former Star Roko Šimić

Croatian football club Lokomotiva is making strategic moves in the transfer market, having recently acquired experienced striker Mirko Marić and sold promising talent Aleks Stojaković to rivals Dinamo. Stojaković, a Slovenian forward, was reportedly sold for around 750,000 euros.

Marić has already made an impact, scoring in his debut for Lokomotiva, who have secured two victories in their first two matches of the season. The team celebrated a 3-2 away win against Istra and a 3-1 home victory over Gorica.

Lokomotiva is not stopping there and is reportedly looking to bolster its attacking lineup further by bringing back Roko Šimić. The club previously sold Šimić to Austrian club Salzburg for 4 million euros five years ago. Šimić, now 22, has had stints at various clubs including Zürich, Cardiff, Kortrijk, and Karlsruher, but his career has faced challenges.

Šimić himself is reportedly interested in returning to Croatian football and rejoining Lokomotiva, where he could potentially revive his career and help the team achieve a better league standing. Despite the strong start to the season, Lokomotiva remains grounded, viewing the initial wins as just the beginning. The potential signing of Šimić is seen as a positive step for both the club and the former youth international, who previously showed promise under Igor Bišćan in the Croatian U-21 team.
