Lost Toy Poodle Rescued in Downpour After Station Dog Races to Help

A toy poodle lost in a night of torrential rain was brought home after Hei Jiang, the black dog at a Kaohsiung police station, suddenly sprang into action.

The poodle escaped when its owner, a 45-year-old woman surnamed Liao, opened the door. She initially expected the dog to return on its own, but it remained missing as the rain intensified. Worried, she went to the Qijin police station for help.

Officer Yang Kai-di checked nearby surveillance footage, but darkness and heavy rain made the dog impossible to spot. Just as officers were struggling without a lead, Hei Jiang barked once and rushed outside. Yang followed and found the soaked toy poodle wandering near the station.

Officers brought the dog inside, dried it and cared for it before notifying Liao to collect it. Police said Hei Jiang was born at a factory about six years ago and later came to the Qijin station, where it became the station’s unofficial dog. Liao thanked both the officers and Hei Jiang after finding her pet safe.
