Louis Barré Wins Tour of Poland Queen Stage in Solo Attack; Scaroni Takes Lead

French rider Louis Barré (Visma | Lease a Bike) delivered a stunning performance to win the queen stage of the Tour of Poland, claiming his first professional victory and shaking up the general classification.

The 126-kilometer sixth stage, from Bukovina Resort to Bukowina Tatrzańska, was characterized by three categorized climbs and a demanding circuit featuring the steep Ściana Bukovina. Despite early breakaway attempts, including those by Walter Calzoni and Mikkel Bjerg, the peloton remained largely in control until the final kilometers.

As the race approached the final categorized climb, Barré and Santiago Buitrago (Bahrain) broke away from the remnants of the earlier escape. Barré, who started the day 23 seconds behind his teammate Bart Lemmen in the overall standings, sensed an opportunity. As Buitrago faltered on the final ascent, Barré launched a decisive solo attack, distancing his pursuers and crossing the finish line with a significant gap.

While Barré's explosive finish secured him the stage win, the time gained was just enough to see Christian Scaroni (Astana) seize the overall leader's jersey. Scaroni finished second on the stage, 10 seconds behind Barré. The final stage on Sunday is an individual time trial, setting the stage for a dramatic conclusion to the Tour of Poland.
