LSSTF donates 50 bulletproof vests, 100 raincoats to Navy in Lagos

The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has provided a significant boost to the Nigerian Navy's operational capabilities with a donation of essential protective gear. The fund presented 50 bulletproof vests, 50 ballistic helmets, and 100 raincoats to the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft (NNS Beecroft) in Lagos.

The presentation, which took place at the NNS Beecroft headquarters in Apapa, Lagos, underscores the ongoing efforts by security agencies to safeguard lives, property, and critical infrastructure across the state, especially as preparations intensify for the forthcoming elections.

Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, the Executive Secretary of LSSTF, stated that the donation followed an assessment of operational needs within state security formations. "It is a normal tradition as the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund to constantly visit all the security agencies in the state to see how they are doing, to ensure that we boost the morale of the officers and encourage the commanders," he explained.

Ogunsan highlighted that the LSSTF's core mandate involves identifying and rectifying operational deficiencies among security agencies operating in Lagos. Receiving the equipment, Commodore Adams Aliu, Commander of NNS Beecroft, expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government and the LSSTF. He described the donation as a significant enhancement to the Navy's internal security operations and crucial for securing Lagos waterways and adjacent land areas. Aliu acknowledged the Armed Forces' constitutional role in supporting civil authorities, emphasizing that the provided equipment would bolster these efforts, especially during the sensitive election period.
