Lubero Administrator Urges Ebola Response Collaboration After First Case Confirmed

Colonel Alain Kiwewa, administrator of Lubero territory in Nord-Kivu, has called on the population to actively collaborate with Ebola response teams. This appeal comes after the confirmation of the first Ebola case in the Lubero health zone, making it the third affected area in the territory.

Kiwewa stressed the reality of the disease, stating, "This disease exists indeed. It is not fantasy, it is not Ebola business." He urged residents not to underestimate the illness and to seek immediate care at health facilities if they experience symptoms. He also encouraged those with signs compatible with Ebola to consult a health center or treatment unit for prompt management and testing.

Addressing concerns about the disease's severity, Kiwewa reassured the public about the availability of care and the possibility of recovery. He pointed to successful treatments in the Masereka and Musienene health zones as evidence that Ebola is not always fatal. The administrator implored the inhabitants to work with response teams by reporting suspected cases quickly and avoiding actions that could spread the virus.
