Luis Suárez scores twice in Sporting's 4-0 rout of Rio Ave

Colombian forward Luis Suárez continued his impressive scoring form for Sporting CP, grabbing a brace in their commanding 4-0 victory against Rio Ave. The match, which opened the fourth round of Liga Portugal, saw Sporting assert their dominance early on.

Sporting took the lead in the fifth minute through Flávio Gonçalves, who converted a pass from Issa Doumbia. Gonçalves, a product of the Cristiano Ronaldo Academy, was instrumental again in the 19th minute, assisting Geny Catamo for the second goal. Catamo nearly scored his second in the 26th minute, but his shot hit the post. Suárez was perfectly positioned to tap in the rebound for Sporting's third goal.

Suárez, the league's top scorer last season, completed his brace in the 37th minute with a powerful strike from the edge of the area following a pass from Maxi Araújo. This performance comes after Suárez began the current season on the bench amidst transfer rumors.
