Lyodra Returns to Sing for Moana, Calls Rapping Her Biggest Challenge

Indonesian singer Lyodra is lending her voice once again to a Disney production, this time for the Indonesian soundtrack of the live-action "Moana." Following her successful performance of "Jauh di Sana" for "Moana 2" in 2024, Lyodra has partnered with Disney Indonesia for the new project.

If it was Moana 2, I sang the song Jauh di Sana, it was more ballad, more pop. If it's this one, the mood is more upbeat, more uplifting. Especially sung with Amora and Kak Rian (Silet Open Up), so it feels more complete.

She is collaborating with fellow artists Amora Lemos and Silet Open Up on the track "Sepanjang Jalan," which is an adaptation of the song "Along the Way." Lyodra described the song as having a more energetic and upbeat mood compared to the ballad style of her previous contribution to "Moana 2." She feels the collaboration with Lemos and Silet Open Up makes the song feel more complete.

Despite her experience with film soundtracks, Lyodra encountered new challenges with this project. She revealed that the most difficult part was not hitting high notes, but rather performing rap sections alongside Silet Open Up. This genre is quite different from her usual musical style, and she admitted to rarely rapping.

It's very different from my previous genres. I've sung rap before, but rarely.

The challenges were amplified when performing the song live, requiring Lyodra to memorize lyrics with a distinct rhythm, maintain tempo, and coordinate with Silet Open Up for a cohesive performance. Interestingly, the song's recording was done separately. Lyodra recorded her vocals first, followed by Lemos and Silet Open Up. The trio only met during the music video shoot.

After hearing the full song, it's really cool because everything feels united.

Lyodra expressed her pleasant surprise upon hearing the final version, noting how well all the elements blended together. The project also holds personal significance for her, as she never expected to collaborate with Amora Lemos, daughter of Kris Dayanti, an artist who influenced Lyodra's musical journey since childhood. "When I was little, I sang with Mimi (Kris Dayanti), now with Amora. I never expected it," Lyodra shared. "Sepanjang Jalan" has been available on streaming platforms since July 3, 2026, and accompanies the end credits of the "Moana" live-action film, which premiered in Indonesian cinemas on July 8, 2026.
