Lyon: Two restaurants targeted by gunman on scooter

Two restaurants in the Part-Dieu district of Lyon, France, had their facades targeted by gunfire from a shooter on an electric scooter during the early hours of Sunday morning. The incident involved three shots fired at each establishment.

According to witnesses cited by Le Progrès, the individual on the scooter fired a handgun before fleeing the scene. Police arrived around 00:50, as confirmed by the Rhône departmental inter-prefectural police directorates (DIPN69) to Le Figaro. Fortunately, no one was injured as the restaurants were closed when the shootings took place.

An investigation has been launched to determine the motive behind the attacks. The incident bears similarities to a previous case involving an individual who called herself the "Jefe Mafia." This person was known for setting fires and firing shots at homes, doors, and businesses in the Lyon area in early 2026. That situation ended tragically when the "Jefe Mafia's" leader's body was found burned in Sérézin-sur-Rhône shortly after a wave of intimidation.
