Madonna Leads 2026 MTV VMA Nominations with 11 Nods

The music industry is buzzing as nominations for the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards reveal a competitive landscape, with Madonna unexpectedly leading the pack.

Madonna has secured an impressive 11 nominations, her most significant VMA achievement in more than three decades. This resurgence highlights her enduring career and ability to consistently reinvent herself. She is a contender in major categories like Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year for her work on “Confessions II – The Film.”

Taylor Swift is close behind with nine nominations, aiming to expand her already record-breaking collection of 30 Moon Person trophies. Other artists with multiple nominations include Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter, both receiving seven nods, and Bruno Mars, PinkPantheress, and Zara Larsson, who each earned five.

This year's ceremony, scheduled for September in Los Angeles, will also see the reintroduction of the Best Dance category after a seven-year hiatus. Notably, Madonna, despite her nominations, has never won in this specific category. Some previously featured categories, such as rock, afrobeats, and Song of the Summer, were omitted from this year's announcement.
